This Girl Could Steal Anything, Even Your Lamborghini
Josh Paler Lin is at it again. If you haven’t heard of him, he is the funny Asian guy who records ridiculous pranks and then posts them on his Youtube channel. True to form, this one does not disappoint. Using a hot girl as bait, he gets his accomplice to steal big ticket electronic items in plain sight. First up, his phone. We all love our phones. We need our smart phones. They are a part of us. In fact, the guy he asks to watch his cell phone is on his own phone (say that last sentence five times really fast). However, all it takes is a beautiful brunette, and a mishap with newspaper, to distract the man long enough til Josh’s phone can be lifted.
I know what you’re thinking. A phone is easy enough to swipe on the fly. How about something a bit more substantial? He plays the scene out again with his laptop. It works so well that the guy who is “supposed” to be watching his laptop gets mad at the new guy who sets his shopping bag on the table. I mean come on… how do you miss a Macbook? You have eyes, right? It’s not rocket science. All you have to do is make sure the gorgeous brunette with her sultry wares does not divert your eye long enough for the accomplice to get the score.
However, what if the stakes were raised even higher? What if you were asked to watch someone’s Lamborghini for a few minutes in exchange for $100? I think that is a safe bet. Any of us would be willing to oblige, especially if money were involved. However, we have the brunette factor to deal with again. All it takes is a well placed goof, a momentary diversion to ask if she needs help, and “Poof!”, the Lamborghini is gone. .
It all makes you wonder if misdirection is really that effective? I love a good magic show as much as the next guy, but even I think I would be able to keep my eye on something fo
It all makes you wonder if misdirection is really that effective? I love a good magic show as much as the next guy, but even I think I would be able to keep my eye on something for a stranger if I was asked to. We all have a little bit of good Samaritan buried deep inside. Surely we can keep our eye true for one moment if cell phones, laptops, and Lamborghinis are part of the equation.
The Science Behind the Disappearing Lamborghini
Well you can… if you are female. If you are a red blooded American male, not so much. Studies have shown that men look at women regardless of their relationship status. It releases a chemical in the brain that is associated with pleasure. Women can get a similar response, too, but not as often and not as much.
As men, we tend to view women as works of art, much more so than women view men the same. See, now you can tell your wife, girlfriend, or significant other, “I can’t help it. I am wired up to enjoy beautiful things!” If she buys it, let me know. I will need your exact wording before I try it out myself. If you get a black eye instead, well, don’t say I didn’t warn you. You will heal in a couple of days and all will be well. Either way the experiment goes for you, the science behind the distraction is solid. Men will look at a pretty woman almost every time, especially if she needs helps.
Yet, if you want nice things for free, rather than look at a beautiful girl, approach her instead. Get her to be your accomplice. Give her a big stack of newspapers and put her to work. You will come home with so many phones, computers and cars that your wife will not mind the extra company you keep. It’s funny how, as men, we all pride ourselves on being different, yet we can all fall for the same bait. No matter how buff, overweight, or how old we are, if a pretty girl walks by and has a mishap, we want to help. Just realize you might be aiding and abetting while you are staring at those big beautiful brown eyes!
